What is softening?

Ion exchange softening is a process in which sodium cations adhered to spherical resin beads (1‑2 mm diameter) are exchanged with calcium and magnesium cations. These cations have a stronger charge than the sodium ion, and thus are captured on the surface of the resin beads.

How is resin saturation avoided?

As the raw hard water passes through the resin vessel, the resin spheres gradually saturate. At this point, the regeneration process begins. A brine tank containing a concentrated solution of sodium chloride (salt) flows into the resin vessel and, due to its high concentration, displaces the magnesium and calcium ions, which are flushed out to the drain.

How do we know when the resin is saturated and regeneration should start?

When the control valve receives the appropriate signal, the regeneration cycle will start automatically. Depending on the head (valve) category, there are time‑based or volumetric control heads.

Cabinet softeners – up to 25 L resin

Maximum production of softened water per regeneration: up to 3.16 m³.
These models are ideal for residential use: drinking water, operating dishwashers, washing machines, etc.
They include a cartridge filter for pretreatment of the raw water.
For this category, “smart heads” are available.

Maximum production of softened water per regeneration: up to 40.56 m³.

1st System

Single Softener

This system can produce up to 40.56 m³ of softened water per regeneration. It is ideal for secondary residences (drinking water, using household appliances, watering).

Depending on your needs, you can choose from a wide range of heads.

2nd System

Twin Softener

Using a twin softener allows you to produce up to the same amount of softened water as the single unit. Their advantage is continuous production without the downtime required for resin regeneration. The tanks communicate via the valves and are programmed to operate alternately when one undergoes regeneration. They are ideal for small hotels or industries needing uninterrupted softening of raw water.

A great solution for applications requiring continuous supply of soft water (e.g. larger residential installations, small to mid‑sized businesses, industrial applications). You can choose from different heads based on your needs.

These systems are ideal for industrial plants, greenhouses, and hotels.
Maximum softened water production per regeneration: up to 272.66 m³.

Using a single softener you can produce up to 272.66 m³ of softened water per regeneration. Ideal for industrial or hotel needs where continuous operation is not required. Various control heads can be selected based on your needs.

With a twin softener setup, you can produce the same volume of softened water as a single unit. Their advantage over single units is continuous water production without delay for resin regeneration. 3rd System

Side Mount Installation
Twin softeners can also be installed in a side‑mounted configuration. The main difference compared to traditional vertical or other layouts is the placement of tanks and components. Side tanks allow easier and more efficient installation in tight or narrow spaces, while still offering the same softening advantages. Side softeners offer significant perks in terms of space saving, ease of installation, stability, and improved performance. Connections are made using appropriate flow meters and Magnum heads, often including an electric control system for monitoring the process and regulating regeneration.
